About the Role

Our client, a prominent exploration and resource development company with interests spanning mining and energy across the Northern Cape , is seeking an exceptional Principal Geologist. This senior role is critical for leading geological exploration programs, interpreting complex subsurface data, and identifying and evaluating promising mineral and energy resource deposits. You will provide expert geological guidance, manage exploration projects, and contribute significantly to the company's strategic resource acquisition and development efforts. This position requires a blend of field experience, advanced analytical skills, and leadership capabilities, with a hybrid work arrangement accommodating both office duties and essential site-based activities near Kimberley .

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and design geological exploration programs, including field mapping, sampling, and data acquisition strategies.
- Interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and delineate resource targets.
- Develop and manage 3D geological models and resource estimation for various commodities (e.g., diamonds, base metals, potential energy minerals).
- Conduct detailed geological assessments and technical reviews of exploration projects.
- Manage exploration budgets, timelines, and personnel, ensuring effective project execution.
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists, geochemists, engineers, and other specialists.
- Prepare comprehensive geological reports,



technical memorandums, and presentations for management and investors.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices, safety standards, and South African mining regulations.
- Mentor junior geologists and contribute to the continuous technical development of the geology team.
- Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

- Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- A PhD is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in mineral and/or energy exploration geology.
- Proven track record of successful exploration discoveries or significant resource definition.
- Expertise in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Datamine).
- Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and economic geology principles.
- Experience with various exploration techniques and data analysis methods.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and team collaboration skills.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and spend time on site in remote locations.
