The Automotive technician plays an integral role in achieving the highest level of customer (guest) satisfaction after the purchase of a vehicle. In person The Automotive Service Technician inspects, repairs, and maintains vehicles and related equipment, using sound mechanical judgment and safe work practices. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and assembly with transparent communication to help customers understand service needs and support reliable equipment operation. Duties
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using schematics, hand tools, and power tools; complete automotive repair and routine maintenance.
- Inspect, service, and assemble components on vehicles and equipment, including machinery used in agricultural, industrial, and construction settings.
- Apply appropriate repair methods for systems such as HVAC, and perform welding tasks when needed.
- Handle heavy components safely and operate or work around forklifts, cranes, excavators, and other heavy equipment as assigned.
- Explain findings and completed work to customers, helping them make informed service decisions. Skills Required: Practical mechanical knowledge, automotive repair, maintenance, protected use of hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret schematics are important to perform inspections and repairs. Preferred: Dealership or mechanic experience, electrical experience, customer service skills, and familiarity with Caterpillar equipment, farm machinery, HVAC, welding, assembly, forklifts, cranes, excavators, heavy lifting, and industrial equipment are advantageous.
