Build overhead and underground distribution experience with Elexicon as a Powerline Technician Co-op Student in Ajax, supporting secure line operations.
Reporting to the Ajax District Supervisor, you will assist with construction and maintenance of distribution lines and equipment. The work includes systems energized from 120 volts to 44,000 volts, foundations, transformers, switching devices, testing, troubleshooting, and emergency restoration. You will work under IHSA and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with overhead and underground line construction and maintenance
- Set equipment foundations and install transformers and switching devices
- Operate or learn specialized line maintenance and construction equipment
- Climb poles and structures to access distribution systems
- Respond to outages, unsafe situations, and restoration emergencies
Requirements:
- Complete Level 1 or Level 2 Powerline Technician studies
- Register as a Ministry Powerline Technician Apprentice
- Hold First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Know OHSA, EUSA Rule Book, WHMIS, and IHSA requirements
- Possess a valid Ontario G or preferably DZ licence
