About the Role

Our client, a highly innovative telecommunications software solutions provider, is seeking an experienced Lead Telecoms Software Developer to guide their development efforts. This role, based in Kimberley, Northern Cape, operates on a hybrid work model, offering a blend of remote flexibility and essential in-office collaboration. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust software solutions for telecommunications networks, mentoring a team of developers, and driving best practices in software engineering. Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software applications for telecommunications systems.
- Mentor and guide a team of software developers, providing technical direction and fostering a team-oriented workplace.
- Collaborate with product managers and architects to define software requirements and technical specifications.
- Develop clean, efficient, and maintainable code using relevant programming languages and frameworks.
- Implement best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in telecommunications software development.




- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy.

Requirements

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role within the telecommunications sector.
- Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python) and experience with software design patterns.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications protocols and concepts (e.g., SIP, VoIP, SS7, 5G core).
- Experience with cloud-native development, microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team setting.
