Physiotherapist – Integrated Rehabilitation and Performance

Part time | Burnaby, BC

About SCIENCED Athletics

SCIENCED Athletics brings physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, biomechanics, and applied sport science together in one facility.

For a physiotherapist, that means rehabilitation does not have to end when pain settles or basic function returns. Clients can progress from clinical assessment and treatment into coached strength training, objective testing, and full return to sport or performance within the same environment.

Our 2,000-square-foot Burnaby facility includes a complete strength-and-conditioning space and technology such as dual force plates, ForceFrame dynamometry, NordBord, and other performance-testing systems. We work with competitive athletes, active adults, post-operative clients, youth athletes, and people who simply want to move and perform better.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist who combines strong clinical reasoning with confident exercise prescription, coaching, and progressive rehabilitation.

This role would suit someone who wants more than a conventional treatment-room position. You will have the space, equipment, and professional support to take clients from their initial assessment through the later stages of rehabilitation and back into training, sport, or everyday performance.

You will work alongside strength-and-conditioning coaches, kinesiologists, an athletic therapist, and an applied sport scientist. You will retain professional independence over clinical decisions while benefiting from a team that understands loading, performance development, biomechanics, and long-term physical preparation.

This opportunity is available primarily as a part-time employee position, with the potential to grow as the physiotherapist develops their caseload. We are also open to discussing an independent contractor arrangement with experienced candidates for whom that structure is a genuine fit. You will be supported by SCIENCED Athletics’ existing client base, internal referral opportunities, marketing, administration, booking and billing systems, and professional network.

We are looking for someone who can build trust, retain clients through excellent care, and develop professional relationships—not someone expected to act as a full-time salesperson.

Schedule

The required shifts are:

- Tuesday: 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Additional hours may become available as the caseload grows.

Responsibilities

- Assess and treat musculoskeletal, sport, post-operative, and active-rehabilitation clients.
- Develop clear, evidence-informed treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Deliver confident exercise coaching and progressive loading on the gym floor.
- Establish measurable criteria for returning clients to training, work, and sport.
- Use objective testing when it adds meaningful information to clinical decisions.

- Communicate clearly with clients about their diagnosis, plan, progress, and next steps.
- Collaborate with strength-and-conditioning coaches, kinesiologists, athletic therapists, physicians, surgeons, and other providers when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Jane.
- Help develop the physiotherapy caseload through excellent service, follow-up, client retention, and professional relationships.
- Contribute to case discussions and the continued development of SCIENCED Athletics’ rehabilitation services.

Required Qualifications

- Full registration in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
- A minimum of two years of experience practising as a physiotherapist.
- Strong musculoskeletal assessment and clinical-reasoning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prescribe, coach, and progress exercise-based rehabilitation.
- Sound judgment regarding red flags, scope of practice, referral, and escalation.
- Clear, skilled, and empathetic communication.
- Dry needling certification.
- Reliable documentation, punctuality, preparation, and follow-through.
- Current individual skilled liability insurance.

Particularly Valuable Experience

The following would be considered strong assets:

- Previous experience as a kinesiologist, strength-and-conditioning coach, or exercise professional.
- Sport physiotherapy or active rehabilitation.
- ACL reconstruction and return-to-sport rehabilitation.
- Post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation.
- Running-related injuries.
- Experience with force plates, dynamometry, or other objective testing technology.<
