Advance inorganic polymer synthesis for ceramics as an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow, working full time onsite in specialized chemistry and materials facilities.
Within Quantum and Nanotechnologies, you will develop inorganic and organometallic precursors for refractory and ultrahigh-temperature ceramics. The two-year fellowship focuses on synthetic chemistry, polymer characterization, thermal analysis, and high-temperature processing. Your work will connect molecular structure and processing with ceramic yield, pyrolysis behaviour, phase evolution, and composition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design transition-metal-containing preceramic polymers
- Synthesize and purify inorganic precursor systems
- Characterize polymers, molecules, and ceramic materials
- Evaluate pyrolysis behaviour and phase evolution
- Support coating, infiltration, and printing assessments
Requirements:
- PhD in chemistry or closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in synthetic chemistry
- PhD obtained within three years or completion within six months
- Experience with inorganic or organometallic synthesis considered an asset
- Eligibility for Reliability Status verification
Apply synthetic chemistry and materials characterization expertise to NRC research advancing polymer-derived refractory and ultrahigh-temperature ceramics.
