About the Job:

Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining workplace on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Heavy Equipment Operator is an integral part of the surface operations at the Silvertip Operation.

Responsibilities:

- Perform pre-operational checks, and operate equipment according to Safe Operating Procedures;
- Operate heavy motorized equipment used in earth moving operations including, but not limited to, tanker, dozer, scraper, loader, grader, mobile compost mixer, 18-wheel tractor-trailer, truck, crane, excavator, and other equipment to support a variety of operations at the mine site;
- May build, level and excavate land surfaces;
- Gather and load dirt and waste products from job sites onto trucks and transport to appropriate location;




- Operate water tanker and similar equipment for dust control and dirt compaction;
- Monitor equipment and processes and ensure equipment deficiencies and operational issues are reported clearly;
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication;
- Assist with disassembling and reassembling screeners/conveyors;
- Conduct trouble shooting activities when problems arise;
- Complete Operator Report Sheets and Daily Logbooks.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

- Experience in operating the varied equipment required for the position including but not limited to bobcat loader zoom boom and manlifts
- Mining industry experience desired;
- Valid class 5 drivers’ licence
- Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Must have a Red seal journeyman ticket in at least one of the following:
- Carpentry, Plumbing, Gas fitter, Oil burner mechanic, Millwright
- Building maintenance experience is a must
- Experience in maintaining and repairing gas burning appliances is a must
- Experience maintaining and repairing water and sewer systems (plumbing)
- Basic carpentry skills is required
- Ability to maintain and repair oil burning equipment (Frost fighters)
- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
- Eligible for monthly bonus.
- Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
