Reporting to the Supervisor, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist's primary focus is to provide consulting services on a variety of human resources related issues including employee and labour relations, performance management, attendance management, and recruitment & selection, acting as the key HR contact for designated client groups within IMP Aerospace and Defence.

Act as lead contact for managers and employees regarding all HR and Corporate policies, procedures, programs and collective agreements in order to ensure effective delivery of human resource services.

Engage with Managers and Supervisors on resolving employee/labour relations and performance problems as they arise.

Maintain confidential, accurate, and up to date employee files and HRIS data.

Initiate appropriate recruitment activities in response to approved vacancies, including liaising with hiring managers to assess requirements, drafting of job postings, recruitment advertising, candidate pre-screenings, candidate contact, interview schedules, final selection process, reference and security checks.

Develop and maintain network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.

Assist managers with performance management as required, and lead performance improvement plans.

Support the HR and Training Department in the delivery of Respectful Workplace training, and other seminars, lunch and learns, etc.

Assist with the mentorship and development of junior members of the HR team.





Work collaboratively with business units and cross functional teams on special projects.

Conduct workplace investigations in response to complaints of harassment, bullying, etc.

Perform other projects and duties as directed.

At least 3 years of progressive experience in an HR role within a complex Human Resources Department (5+ years preferred)

Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management (undergraduate degree or community college diploma with concentration in HR), or equivalent

Experience working in a unionized environment, in a Human Resources role, is an asset

Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices including the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights and Employment Equity legislation

Familiar with aspects of web-based recruiting and online candidate tracking tools.

Ability to take initiative and follow through with projects and meet deadlines.

Strong working knowledge of all required MS Office software.

Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.

Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 6S activities in your area.

Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
