- Go beyond simply running a test investigate why an application is slow, perform root-cause analysis, understand the underlying application architecture, provide actionable insights to developers, suggest workarounds/solutions, and think independently to solve performance problems.
- Independently handle the full performance testing lifecycle: non-functional requirements gathering, performance test planning, test strategy/design, JMeter scripting, test execution, monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, performance tuning/optimization, reporting, and root-cause analysis.
- Interact with stakeholders, gather non-functional requirements, participate in troubleshooting discussions, explain performance risks/issues, collaborate with development teams, and work across geographically distributed teams.
- Ask the right questions, rather than simply execute instructions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, operations, and business stakeholders to analyze results, recommend optimizations, and drive performance improvements.
Required Experience
- 6+ years of experience in performance testing and performance engineering (this is the bare minimum).
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end scripting for APIs, web applications, microservices, MQ, Kafka, etc.
- Substantial hands-on JMeter experience at an expert level.
- Deep experience with Dynatrace for performance monitoring and application insights, including the ability to investigate application performance issues.
