As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will own technical decisions across the AI Platform team. You will build governed interfaces for models, tools, and agents while supporting identity, reliability, security, and cost attribution. The work spans gateway, runtime, and evaluation services.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and own AI Platform projects from design through on-call
Build gateway, runtime, and evaluation services
Implement identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controls
Monitor systems through metrics, alerting, runbooks, and on-call
Mentor engineers and improve design, coding, and testing practices
Requirements: Four-plus years designing backend systems at scale
Production experience with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworks
Proficiency making significant changes in large codebases
Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
Apply backend engineering, AI workload, and distributed systems expertise to Affirm’s governed AI Platform infrastructure.
