We currently have an opportunity for a Precast Sales Technologist to join our Technical Design team at our office in Steinbach, Manitoba. This technical sales role combines customer-facing sales, project coordination, and product development. All precast technical opportunities will be routed through you as the primary contact responsible for understanding customer needs and coordinating practical solutions from initial inquiry through customer approval and production handoff. You will work closely with production, drafting, and project management, coordinating with general sales as needed. You will also participate in research and development efforts to develop and optimize technical products.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Serve as the primary technical sales contact for all precast technical opportunities, which will be routed through this role within the Technical Design team.

· Coordinate with general sales as needed to route precast technical inquiries and share relevant customer and project information.

· Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers, project owners, government project owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.

· Respond to customer inquiries, clarify project requirements, and follow up on opportunities through to resolution.

· Review plans, specifications, drawings,



and customer requirements to recommend suitable standard products and coordinate project-specific solutions where required.

· Prepare and deliver customer presentations and technical proposals that clearly communicate recommended products and project-specific solutions.

· Work closely with production, drafting, and project management to coordinate project requirements, drawing revisions, customer approvals, and clear production handoffs.

· Prepare and coordinate technical-product documentation packages, including information required for project revisions and approvals.

· Participate in research and development to develop and optimize technical products, supporting testing, production trials, material evaluations, mix optimization, cost-reduction initiatives, and production troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have:

· Knowledge of the civil and structural construction industry, including the roles and relationships of private and government project owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.

· Customer service experience and the ability to build effective customer relationships.

· Sales experience and an interest in developing practical technical solutions for customers.

· Project coordination or project management experience, with the ability to work across production, drafting, and project teams.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.





· Strong interpersonal skills with excellent professional communication

· Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work

· Ability to work independently while working within a larger Barkman team

· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on solutions

· Strong presentation skills and the ability to prepare clear, professional technical proposals.

· Ability and willingness to learn; seeking out answers in a timely manner

· Solid organizational and time management skills, effective prioritizing and follow-up

· Computer literacy (Outlook, Office 365, Teams, Excel, Epicor, etc.)

· Valid Driver’s license

· Drafting experience and proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software would be an asset.

· A Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or similar technical qualification would be an asset.
