Experienced Bookkeeper – QuickBooks Online & Xero (REMOTE)

Objective Tax & Accounting is a growing Canadian accounting firm providing personal and corporate tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll.

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper who can independently manage bookkeeping for multiple clients, including investment holding companies.

Responsibilities:

- Managing monthly and quarterly bookkeeping for multiple clients using QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Xero.
- Setting up new clients in QBO, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, opening balances, and bookkeeping workflows.
- Using Hubdoc to collect, organize, and process invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts.
- Recording investment transactions, including purchases, sales, dividends, interest, capital gains, and investment fees.
- Preparing and reconciling GST/HST accounts and assisting with related filings.
- Reviewing general ledgers, identifying discrepancies, and correcting bookkeeping errors.
- Preparing organized working papers and financial records for corporate tax returns and year-end accounting.
- Communicating with clients to obtain missing information and resolve bookkeeping questions.
- Helping improve our bookkeeping processes and workflows.

Required:

- At least 10 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably in a Canadian public accounting or bookkeeping firm.
- Robust hands-on experience with QBO.




- Experience setting up new client files in QBO.
- Experience reconciling accounts.
- Experience with investment bookkeeping, including brokerage statements, investment income, realized gains and losses, and reconciling investment accounts.
- Good understanding of GST/HST.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.

Strongly preferred:

- Experience with Xero.
- Experience using Hubdoc.
- QBO ProAdvisor or Xero certification.

Compensation

- Annual salary of $55,000 to $75,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
