Structural NDT Technician, Kamloops, BC

Matec Consultants inspects and certifies cranes, concrete pumps and lifting equipment across BC. We're looking for a technician based in Kamloops to cover the Interior. You'll get full training, a company truck and plenty of variety.

What we offer

- Competitive pay and a paid training plan (CWB, MPI, LPI and UT certifications).
- A newer Ford F-150 XLT or Lariat for work and personal use.
- A mix of work: about 50% travelling to sites, plus report writing from home.
- Initial training in Surrey alongside experienced technicians and engineers.

What you'll do

- Inspect cranes, concrete pumps, man lifts, scissor lifts, excavators, pipelayers, reach stackers and below-the-hook lifting devices.
- Perform visual, MT, LPI and UT inspections to CSA, ASME and WorkSafeBC standards.
- Document findings and report defects to the Engineer of Record.
- Write field and client reports using Excel, Word and our custom software.
- Manage your client relationships: schedule work, follow up and be the local face of Matec.

Nice to have

- Experience in construction, welding, mechanics or NDT.
- Welding or NDT tickets (CWB Level 1, MPI or LPI Level 2, UT Level 1).
- Experience working at heights or on aerial lifts.
- A sharp eye for detail and code issues.

Must have

- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- A valid BC driver's licence and a clean abstract.
- Based in or near Kamloops and comfortable with regular overnight travel.
- Able to work outdoors, crawl under machines, occasionally lift 50 lbs and work at heights.
