About Trappers Hill
Trappers Hill is a unique off-grid glamping resort and campground tucked into the Alberta Rockies. We offer cozy cabins, glamping accommodations, campsites, mountain views, hiking trails, and a Nordic spa featuring a wood-fired sauna and cold plunge.
We're looking for a reliable, hands-on seasonal caretaker who takes pride in maintaining a beautiful property and creating memorable experiences for our guests.
The role
As our Seasonal Resort Caretaker, you'll help oversee the day-to-day operation of the property, maintain facilities and grounds, prepare accommodations for arrivals, and ensure guests have a safe, clean, and enjoyable stay.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems independently, and being part of a small, growing hospitality business.
Key responsibilities
Guest experience and hospitality
- Welcome guests and provide check-in information and property orientations.
- Respond to guest questions and resolve issues in a friendly, professional manner.
- Help guests understand the property, amenities, fire rules, water limitations, and remote access conditions.
- Assist with campground operations, bookings, and guest communications as needed.
- Maintain a welcoming, helpful presence throughout the property.
Housekeeping and facilities
- Clean and prepare cabins and glamping units between stays.
- Maintain outhouses, wash stations, showers,
and common areas to a high standard.
- Monitor supplies and restock essentials.
- Maintain the Nordic spa area, including routine cleaning and established sauna and cold-plunge procedures.
- Report maintenance issues and ensure facilities are ready for guests.
Groundskeeping and property maintenance
- Maintain campsites, trails, fire pits, picnic areas, and common spaces.
- Restock and sell firewood and assist with store operations.
- Complete light repairs, upkeep, and general property improvements.
- Monitor garbage, recycling, water supplies, and other essential services.
- Identify potential hazards and report issues with access roads, equipment, or facilities.
Operations and teamwork
- Complete daily opening, closing, and inspection checklists.
- Communicate maintenance needs, supply shortages, guest concerns, and incidents to ownership.
- Assist with wedding and event preparations when required and agreed upon.
- Work independently while following established safety procedures and operating standards.
What we're looking for
- Dependable, honest, organized, and self-motivated.
- Friendly and comfortable interacting with guests.
- Practical, hands-on, and confident tackling everyday maintenance tasks.
- Able to prioritize tasks and work independently in a remote environment.
- Comfortable with outdoor work in changing mountain weather.
- Strong communication skills and good judgment.
- Previous experience in hospitality, campgrounds, resorts, housekeeping, property maintenance, or outdoor recreation is an asset.
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are preferred.
- First aid certification and experience with equipment, plumbing, generators, or off-grid systems are assets.
Work setting
Trappers Hill is a remote, off-grid property with limited cellular service and a rough access road. The role involves a mix of housekeeping, outdoor maintenance, guest service, and practical problem-solving.
The position may include weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on occupancy and operational needs. The schedule, compensation, accommodation arrangements, and any on-call expectations will be discussed clearly before hiring.
Compensation and benefits
Compensation will be based on experience and responsibilities. On-site accommodation may be available if agreed upon, subject to the property's facilities and employment arrangements.
