Position Summary: Under the supervision and guidance of the Early Learning Centre Director and/or Assistant Director, the Early Childhood Educator at Smarty Pants Academy will provide high-quality supervision and leadership in early childhood development practices. The educator will implement developmentally appropriate policies and activities to support each child's growth and learning. They will foster positive relationships and maintain open, respectful communication with children, parents, staff, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and management to address individual child needs and concerns

- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and best practices

- Serve as a positive role model for children and staff

- Maintain a safe environment, addressing any issues related to harassment, bullying, or discrimination

- Respond promptly to inquiries from parents, staff, and children

- Provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care in compliance with provincial regulations and best practices

- Uphold licensing standards and ensure ongoing compliance with regulations

- Follow safe work practices consistently

- Participate in program planning, development, and implementation

- Document and report relevant information, including accidents, illnesses, and unusual incidents, in accordance with policy

- Keep the environment clean, organized, and safe at all times





- Support children’s daily activities with encouragement and guidance

- Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities

- Follow emergency procedures and safety protocols

- Complete additional reporting and documentation as required

- Report any concerns or updates regarding children and families to the Director or Assistant Director

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director

Education & Certification:

- Early Childhood Education Certificate I, II, or III, or equivalent experience in an early childhood setting, approved by the Board of Directors

- Valid First Aid and CPR certification

- Successful completion of a Protected Food Handling course

- Certification(s) and/or licensing as required by provincial regulations

Experience:

At least one year of experience working with children in a daycare or early childhood setting is preferred

- Ability to connect with children in a developmentally appropriate manner

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage conflicting demands

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Work Conditions:

- Interaction with children, parents, staff, and community members in a variety of situations, including sensitive or challenging circumstances

- Operation of computers and other classroom equipment

- Extended periods of standing and other physically active tasks

- Full-time hours, typically 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling
