Job Overview

Pawvella Pet Resort is looking for an experienced, responsible, and enthusiastic Dog Daycare Attendant to join our team in Surrey, BC.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working in a dog daycare or similar animal care environment, understands canine body language and group play dynamics, and can confidently handle dogs of different sizes, including large breeds.

We are looking for someone who is proactive in preventing conflicts, attentive to each dog's individual needs, and passionate about providing a safe, fun, and positive experience for our furry guests. Excellent communication skills and the ability to capture and share photos and videos of dogs with their owners are also important parts of this role.

Job Description & Responsibilities

- Supervise Dog Groups: Actively monitor dogs during group play and ensure a safe, clean, and positive daycare environment.
- Understand Canine Behaviour: Recognize canine body language, stress signals, overstimulation, and early warning signs of potential conflicts. Intervene promptly and appropriately before situations escalate.
- Handle Dogs Confidently: Safely manage dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and energy levels, including large and strong dogs.
- Provide Individualized Care: Understand and respond to each dog's needs, personality, comfort level, and behaviour. Help dogs feel safe, comfortable, and engaged throughout the day.
- Feeding & Daily Care: Prepare and serve dogs' lunches according to their individual feeding instructions, monitor their eating habits, and provide fresh water throughout the day.
- Leashed Walks: Take dogs on secure, controlled leash walks in the surrounding neighbourhood, following each dog's care instructions and safety requirements.
- Photo & Video Updates: Take clear, engaging photos and short videos of dogs during playtime, walks, and daily activities.



Share updates with pet owners to keep them informed and connected with their dogs' daycare experience.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Clean and sanitize play areas, feeding stations, kennels, and other facility spaces as needed.
- Monitor Health & Safety: Observe dogs for signs of illness, injury, stress, or unusual behaviour and promptly report concerns to management.
- Teamwork & Communication: Work closely with team members to maintain consistent care routines, follow facility procedures, and provide excellent customer service to pet owners.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous hands-on experience working in a dog daycare, dog boarding facility, kennel, or similar animal care environment is required.
- Strong understanding of canine body language, social behaviour, group play, and conflict prevention.
- Ability to confidently and safely handle large dogs and dogs with different temperaments and energy levels.
- Comfortable supervising multiple dogs in a group setting and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience taking photos and videos of dogs and providing daily updates to pet owners.
- Comfortable walking dogs on leash in an outdoor neighbourhood setting.
- Reliable, observant, patient, physically active, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow feeding instructions, cleaning procedures, and health and safety protocols.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, as required.
