Milestones Children's Centre is seeking a caring, reliable, and organized Part-Time Childcare Cook (Food Handler) to join our team. In this important role, you will help provide nutritious meals and snacks that support children's growth, learning, and well-being while contributing to a positive, collaborative environment for children, families, and staff.

Working alongside our Kitchen Administrator and the Full-Time Food Handler, you will play a key role in preparing healthy meals, maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen, and ensuring our programs continue to provide high-quality food service for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.

All duties are performed within the framework of the Vision, Mission, and Values of Milestones Children's Centre.

What You'll Do

- Assist with the preparation and implementation of four-week rotating menus in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and MCC policies
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks while following safe food handling practices
- Record food and appliance temperatures daily
- Document menu substitutions and changes as required
- Assist with grocery ordering, purchasing, and inventory management
- Help maintain organized recipes and kitchen records
- Rotate food inventory and monitor stock levels
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Child Care and Early Years Act, Public Health requirements, Fire Department regulations, and MCC policies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
- Perform repetitive lifting of up to approximately 20 lbs

What We're Looking For

- Valid Protected Food Handling Certificate




- Experience working in a kitchen or food service environment
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Flexibility to work primarily in St. Thomas, with occasional temporary support at our Aylmer location if required

Schedule

- 20 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Attendance at monthly staff meetings and a minimum of four hours of annual professional learning is required
- Additional casual hours may be available based on operational needs
