MCG Careers invites you to an IN-PERSON hiring event for Lomita Tutoring, an academic support service for local students, families and residents.

Join us for on-the-spot interviews for the following position:

Academic Tutor

- Comfortable supporting students in one or more K-12 subject areas
- Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to each student’s learning style
- Help students strengthen their understanding, confidence, study skills, and overall academic performance

Time: 1:30 - 3:30 pm

About the Opportunity

The Academic Tutor - Foothills Region supports children’s learning through focused tutoring and teaching. The tutor helps learners understand academic material, build confidence, and make steady progress. This role calls for clear communication, attentive support, and a collaborative approach that helps children engage with learning.

Duties

- Provide tutoring and teaching tailored to children’s learning needs and goals.
- Explain concepts clearly, check understanding, and adapt instruction when learners need another approach.
- Encourage participation, answer questions patiently, and help children develop effective learning habits.
- Share relevant progress observations with colleagues to support consistent guidance.

Experience

Required: Practical tutoring and teaching capabilities, clear communication skills, and the ability to explain material in an engaging, age-appropriate way are essential to supporting learners. Patience, attentiveness, and the ability to adapt explanations help children stay involved and make progress.

Preferred: Experience working with children and classroom experience are valuable strengths, along with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and share useful observations about learning.
