Janitor/Cleaner (Full-Time to Part-Time) – Betty’s Best Cleaning

Summary

Betty’s Best Cleaning is looking for a reliable, experienced Janitor/Cleaner to join our growing janitorial team. You will help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for our clients and their employees and visitors. Reporting to the owner/team lead, you will handle commercial cleaning and custodial tasks to a high standard. We’re looking for someone with strong attention to detail, a good work ethic, and pride in a job well done. Whether you want full time hours or a part-time schedule, our pay structure rewards efficient, high-quality work.

Requirements

- Must live in the Comox Valley
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience is required
- Building Service Worker (BSW) certificate preferred
- Must Have own Vehicle
- Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a regular schedule
- Clean criminal record
- Clean driving record
- Capable of using a smart phone and apps associated witht the job

Compensation

This position is paid on a commission / flat-rate-per-job basis, with earning potential of $27 to $34 per hour depending on experience, certification (BSW preferred), and efficiency.

- How you’re paid: Commission / flat rate per job ($27 to $32/hr earning potential)
- Rate: 40 - 43% of job revenue
- Target earnings: $27 to $32 per hour based on typical job times, higher earning possibility when highly efficient
- Pay schedule: bi-weekly
- Premium for experience: higher per-job rates for experienced cleaners BSW certificate holders, and floor care specialists

Earnings depend on the jobs completed and the time they take. Wages are paid in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act.

Responsibilities

- Perform general janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including windows and furniture
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, such as hallways and lobbies
- Perform buffing and floor maintenance tasks as needed
- Assist with porter duties, including moving furniture and equipment
- Follow established safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment
- Represent Betty’s Best Cleaning professionally with clients and on job sites
- Carry some equipment in your vehicle

Experience & Skills

- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques is a plus
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks is beneficial
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers, is desired
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- Reliable transportation to job sites around the Comox Valley is requiired
