About the role

JL Metals is looking for a detail-oriented Technical Sales & Project Coordinator to support our technical sales department, assist with project management, and prepare accurate, efficient nesting layouts for production.

This role connects customer requirements with the work being completed on the shop floor. You will help keep projects organized, ensure technical information is accurate, and support timely delivery from the initial inquiry through production.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with practical problem-solving, clear communication, and pride in producing high-quality work.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and optimize nesting layouts to maximize material utilization while meeting part specifications and production requirements.
- Review drawings, dimensions, quantities, material specifications, and revisions for accuracy before releasing work to production.
- Support the technical sales team with drawing reviews, material requirements, and information needed to prepare accurate quotations.
- Assist project managers with job planning, documentation, progress tracking, and follow-up.
- Prepare and maintain job files, work orders, drawings, and supporting production information.
- Coordinate with sales, project management, purchasing, and production to confirm requirements and keep work moving.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers to clarify technical details and resolve outstanding questions.
- Identify missing information, drawing discrepancies, and potential production issues early.




- Track changes and ensure the appropriate teams are working from current, approved information.
- Help improve nesting practices, documentation, and day-to-day workflows.

Qualifications and experience

- 3-5 years of experience in CAD/CAM nesting for laser cutting, technical sales support, estimating, or project coordination within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production specifications.
- Proficiency with nesting software.
- Understanding of material utilization, cutting processes, and practical production constraints.
- Solid attention to detail and a consistent approach to checking work.
- Ability to organize multiple jobs, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel and business systems; experience with ERP or manufacturing software is an asset.
- Relevant technical education or equivalent hands-on experience.

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
