The Proper Pub Quiz | Winnipeg, MB | Part-time evening work

Can you grab a room’s attention and keep people entertained? We’d like to meet you.

The Proper Pub Quiz is a fast-growing events company looking for confident, quick-witted performers to host trivia nights in Winnipeg.

Right now, we’re recruiting for cover shifts, stepping in when our regular hosts are unavailable. As we add more venues and shows, there may be opportunities to take on regular weekly nights.

Our nights bring together good banter, music, friendly competition and teams who come back week after week. We provide the quiz, equipment and training. You bring the personality that makes the night worth coming out for.

The role

You’ll be the face and voice of the night: welcoming teams, delivering questions, running music rounds and keeping the energy up from the first question to the final scores.

You’ll also:

- Set up and pack down the equipment we provide
- Explain the rules and keep the quiz running on time
- Engage with teams and make newcomers feel welcome
- Think on your feet when the unexpected happens
- Keep the competition fun, fair and organized

Who we’re looking for

You’re comfortable on a microphone, enjoy talking to people and know how to read a room. You can land a joke, handle a lively crowd and keep things moving.

You’re also reliable,

organized and prepared to show up ready to give people a great night out.

Experience in radio, theatre, comedy, teaching, emceeing or customer service is a solid asset, but it isn’t essential. You don’t need to be a trivia expert. Personality and presence matter more than knowing every answer.

What you’ll need

- Must own a laptop and bring it to every show
- Reliable transportation to and from venues in Winnipeg
- Evening availability
- Willingness to work occasional cover shifts, sometimes at short notice

What we provide

- Training shifts to help you get comfortable
- All quiz content, music rounds and hosting materials
- Equipment and a straightforward setup
- Competitive pay per show
- Opportunities for regular shows as we grow

Most shows take place on weekday evenings, with occasional weekend events. Quizzes typically run for two to three hours, plus setup and pack-down time.

This is currently a casual cover role, so the number of shifts will vary and regular weekly hours aren’t guaranteed.

Interested?

Send us a short introduction telling us about yourself, any relevant experience and why you’d be a great fit on the mic. Please include your evening availability.
