Flex Developments is looking for reliable, personable and hands-on Live-In Resident Managers to join our team.

We develop and manage some of Halifax’s nicest residential properties, with attractive buildings, desirable locations and a wide variety of apartment communities across Halifax, Bedford and Lower Sackville. We’re looking for people who take pride in their surroundings and enjoy making a building a welcoming place to call home.

Your apartment is provided rent-free as part of the position, with up to $30,000 in annual salary paid in addition to the housing benefit.

What You’ll Do

As the building’s on-site Resident Manager, you’ll be a familiar, helpful presence for residents and an important connection between the property and our management team.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Resident service: Respond professionally to resident questions and concerns, communicate building information and help maintain a respectful community.
- Cleaning and presentation: Keep common areas clean, tidy and welcoming, and take pride in the building’s overall appearance.
- Property checks: Regularly inspect common areas and grounds, identify maintenance needs and report safety concerns.
- Minor maintenance: Handle basic repairs and upkeep within your abilities, and refer larger issues to the appropriate maintenance staff or contractors.
- Maintenance coordination: Arrange access for repairs, communicate with trades and follow up on outstanding work.
- Showings and move-ins: Assist with apartment viewings, move-in and move-out inspections, and preparation of suites as needed.
- Communication and records: Keep the management team informed about resident concerns, maintenance requests and building needs.
- Emergency response: Respond to urgent building issues during assigned on-call periods and communicate promptly with the appropriate support contacts.

- A practical approach to basic maintenance and problem-solving.
- Attention to cleanliness, presentation and detail.
- Good organization and the ability to manage day-to-day priorities.
- Confidence using a smartphone, email and basic digital tools.
- The ability to work independently while keeping the management team informed.
- A calm, professional approach to unexpected situations.

Experience as a resident manager, building superintendent, caretaker, maintenance worker or property-management team member is an asset. Relevant experience in cleaning, hospitality, customer service or the trades is also valuable.

Live-In Requirement

This position requires you to live in the assigned building. The role includes regular building responsibilities and after-hours emergency response according to the position’s agreed schedule.
