Junior Site Manager / Labourer

About the Role

Wiltshire Homes builds luxury custom homes across the GTA and Durham Region, typically on $1.5M to $3M budgets. We have completed over 100 custom builds and our Hunter Estates community was named Custom Home Build of the Year in 2024.

The Junior Site Manager leads a site day to day and keeps the build moving. You will report to the Senior Site Supervisor, who is on site with you regularly, and you will own your project end to end while knowing enough about our other builds to step in when needed.

This is a hands-on working role — on the tools, on the machine, and on site every day. It is not a supervisory or office position.

What You Will Own

- Lead a site day to day and keep trades productive and sequenced
- Run the site to the schedule in our project management software and build to it
- Check all work against the drawings and specifications before the next trade starts
- Front runner on deficiencies and quality control through to PDI
- Book and attend inspections, and follow up with inspectors on outcomes
- Sign off trade work before it is paid, with deficiencies resolved first
- End-of-week update on your project every Thursday — progress, photos, and video for the client to see. Daily updates wherever possible
- Give advance notice of material, trade, and equipment needs
- Escalate same day on anything that affects a date, a cost, a client, or trade performance

Hands-On Work

- Framing, installation, and general construction work as the build requires
- Site clean-up — keeping the site tidy and presentable throughout the build
- Material pick-ups, deliveries, and machine operation
- Lock-up and site security at the end of every day
- Protecting finished work and stored materials, including winter heat and humidity control

Know Your Project

You will be expected to know four documents on your build inside out, and to always be working from the current version:

- Architectural drawings — these change, so revisions matter
- Design chart and selection sheet
- Additional items list — everything the client has added
- Scope of work — what we are contracted to do, and what we are not

What We Are Looking For

The single most important thing: a system. You must be able to show us how you currently track trades, materials, and deadlines. Not describe it — show us. Everything else can be taught.

- Working knowledge of ground-up residential construction — excavation, footings, foundation, framing, and the sequence a house gets built in
- Able to work to a set schedule and hold the sequence — you will be building to a schedule you did not write, and keeping it on track
- Hands-on construction experience. Residential preferred; strong trade or site backgrounds considered
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Comfortable with construction software, or clearly able to pick it up quickly
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation between sites
- Working at Heights, WHMIS, and first aid current, or obtained before start
- Machine operation experience an asset

Who Does Well Here

- Organized, and writes things down rather than keeping it in their head

- Takes direction and runs with it without needing to be chased
- Asks rather than guesses — there is no penalty for asking
- Comfortable holding a trade to the standard, and escalating rather than arguing
- Presentable and professional — our clients are often on site
- Wants to grow into a full site manager role

Working With Clients

Our clients visit their homes during construction and you will speak with them. Be helpful and professional, but never commit to a price, a date, or a change in scope — those always route to the Senior Site Supervisor.

What We Offer

- Health and dental benefits after three months
- Two personal days
- Half days around the holidays
- Company vehicle or vehicle arrangement, tools and equipment provided
- A small, close team with staff events through the year
- Direct mentorship from the Senior Site Supervisor, who is on site with you regularly
- A transparent path to a full Site Manager role as you grow
