Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Part-Time Banquet Server to join our team at Courtyard by Marriott Brampton. The successful candidate will assist with the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events, including meetings, conferences, weddings, private functions, and other special occasions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality setting. The Banquet Server will work closely with the food and beverage team to ensure events run smoothly and guests receive exceptional service in accordance with hotel standards.

Previous banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up banquet rooms according to event specifications, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and other required equipment.
- Prepare banquet spaces for meetings, conferences, weddings, and other special events.
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Ensure tables, buffet stations, and service areas are properly set up and maintained throughout events.
- Welcome guests and respond to their requests to ensure a positive dining and event experience.
- Assist with buffet service, plated meals, coffee breaks, receptions, and other banquet functions.




- Follow established food and beverage service procedures and hotel service standards.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, banquet supervisors, and other team members to coordinate service.
- Monitor guest needs throughout events and respond promptly to requests.
- Clear tables, remove used dishes, replenish supplies, and maintain cleanliness throughout the event.
- Assist with the breakdown and cleaning of banquet rooms following events.
- Ensure banquet equipment, service stations, and storage areas are kept clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, workplace health and safety, and responsible alcohol service procedures, as applicable.
- Handle food, beverages, glassware, and banquet equipment carefully and safely.
- Report guest concerns, service issues, equipment problems, or safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with inventory checks and the proper storage of banquet supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanour while representing the hotel.
- Follow Marriott brand standards, hotel policies, and established service procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Previous banquet, restaurant, food service, or hospitality experience is an asset.




- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills in English.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks during events.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good time management skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices is an asset.
- Smart Serve certification is required if serving alcohol, as applicable under Ontario regulations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional late nights, depending on banquet schedules and business needs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move banquet supplies, tables, chairs, and equipment as required, with appropriate assistance for heavier items.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Qualified appearance and adherence to hotel grooming and uniform standards.
