TEL Trucking is looking for an experienced Safety Fitness Officer and Dispatcher to support our drivers, fleet, and daily operations.

This role is ideal for someone who understands commercial transportation safety, driver compliance, hours of service, and dispatch. The successful candidate will be organized, confident, detail focused, and committed to helping our team operate safely, legally, and efficiently.

What You Will Do

- Monitor driver compliance, safety performance, and vehicle activity using Samsara and other company systems
- Review electronic logs, hours of service, rest periods, available driving time, status changes, and compliance alerts
- Ensure drivers are assigned work within legal hours of service limits
- Support dispatch by coordinating driver schedules, route coverage, service changes, and urgent operational needs
- Communicate daily with drivers, customers, dispatchers, maintenance staff, and management
- Maintain complete and accurate driver qualification files, including licences, abstracts, medicals, training records, certifications, and renewal dates
- Review pre trip and post trip inspections, defect reports, and maintenance concerns
- Follow up on speeding, harsh driving, camera events, missed inspections, safety concerns, and other telematics alerts
- Coordinate driver coaching, retraining, safety meetings, orientations, and refresher training
- Assist with incident investigations, collision reporting, corrective action, and documentation




- Help maintain compliance with applicable safety, transportation, and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with dispatch to ensure drivers are rested, qualified, and prepared before assignments
- Maintain skilled, accurate, and confidential records
- Support other safety, dispatch, and operational duties as needed

What We Are Looking For

- Previous experience in transportation safety, fleet compliance, dispatch, or trucking operations
- Strong understanding of commercial driver hours of service and electronic logging devices
- Experience with Samsara or another fleet management system is an asset
- Knowledge of driver files, trip inspections, maintenance reporting, safety documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with drivers and customers
- Excellent organization, follow up, and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution focused in a fast paced environment
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and fleet management software
- Safety or transportation related certification is an asset
- Dispatch experience is strongly preferred
