About the Role

The (to be renamed!) SFU Pub is seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead the operations of our pub and restaurant at Simon Fraser University. This role oversees daily operations, team leadership, financial performance, and guest experience while building The SFU Pub into a welcoming social hub for the SFU community.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily restaurant and pub operations, ensuring excellent food quality, service, and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee training, schedule, and manage front-of-house staff.
- Monitor budgets, sales, labour costs, inventory, and overall profitability.
- Manage supplier relationships, purchasing, and inventory control.
- Plan and oversee events, promotions, and campus engagement initiatives.
- Build relationships with SFU faculty and student organizations and the broader university community.
- Ensure compliance with applicable liquor licensing, food safety, employment, and workplace safety requirements.




- Report on operational performance and business results to ownership.

Qualifications

- 3-5 years of management experience in a high-volume restaurant, pub, bar, or hospitality workplace.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing staff, budgets, scheduling, and inventory.
- Knowledge of food safety, liquor licensing, and responsible alcohol service.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work in Canada.
- Experience launching/opening scratch-kitchen or high-volume concepts is a strong asset.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
