Job Title: Manual Tool Room Machinist (Lathe & Mill)

Department: CNC Machine Shop Support
Shift: Full-Time (with shift/weekend overtime flexibility)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Manual Tool Room Machinist to support our CNC Machine Shop operations. In this role, you will specialize in operating manual lathes and mills to fabricate, repair, and maintain tooling, fixtures, and short-run production components. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses robust mechanical aptitude, and can work independently from sketches, samples, or engineering drawings.

Core Responsibilities

- Tooling & Fixtures: Fabricate, modify, and repair custom tooling and work-holding fixtures for CNC machines using raw samples, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Short-Run Machining: Machine occasional small parts and replacement components directly from customer-supplied technical drawings.
- Advanced Assembly: Perform precision thermal assemblies utilizing heat shrinkage and liquid nitrogen press-fit techniques.
- Secondary Operations: Perform deburring, precision honing, part finishing, and welding/fabrication (if qualified) to support overall shop flow.
- Team Collaboration: Assist CNC operators and setup personnel with large, complex machine setups and demanding machining operations.
- Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all workplace safety protocols and PPE requirements.





Required Qualifications

- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in a general manual machining or tool room environment.
- Equipment Mastery: High proficiency in setting up and operating manual lathes, milling machines, and standard tool room equipment.
- Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;), and rough sketches.
- Shop Math: Proficiency in machine shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry, for part layout and calculations.
- Precision Measurement: Expert skill with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators).
- Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal) with a proven ability to follow complex technical instructions independently.

Preferred Assets

- Proven experience with welding and general metal fabrication.
- Experience handling cryogenic materials (liquid nitrogen) and industrial heating equipment.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods in a manufacturing shop environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
