Richmond Hill

We are a design-build company specializing in residential additions, custom homes, and major renovations. We are currently seeking a Senior Interior Designer & Sales Consultant with a minimum of 10 years of residential interior design experience.

The ideal candidate combines strong professional design skills, practical residential construction knowledge, excellent client communication, and the ability to independently manage client consultations and successfully convert opportunities into signed projects.

This role involves more than design work. The successful candidate will independently manage company-provided leads and take full ownership of each opportunity, from the initial client consultation through needs assessment, design development, preliminary pricing, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and contract signing.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently follow up with potential clients provided by the company, including phone communication, appointment scheduling, in-home consultations, needs assessment, and ongoing follow-up.
- Conduct site measurements and independently develop space plans, design concepts, material selections, and professional design presentations.
- Develop practical renovation and construction solutions based on the client’s needs, priorities, project scope, and budget.
- Prepare preliminary quotations and clearly explain construction scope, material selections, pricing, budget considerations, and the overall project process to clients.
- Independently lead the interior design process from concept development through final design approval.
- Ensure design solutions are practical, buildable, code-conscious, and aligned with the client’s budget and construction scope.
- Review and coordinate design details with the construction, engineering, and project management teams to minimize conflicts during project execution.
- Build strong client relationships, address concerns, revise proposals, negotiate project scope and pricing when appropriate, and confidently secure signed contracts.

- Coordinate a smooth project handover to the construction, engineering, and project management teams after contract signing, and provide necessary design support during project execution.
- Maintain organized records of assigned projects, design presentations, client proposals, quotations, contracts, and relevant project documentation.

Qualifications

- Minimum 10 years of residential interior design experience, with solid skills in space planning, material coordination, and practical design execution.
- Strong knowledge of commonly used renovation materials, local suppliers, residential construction methods, and approximate building costs in the Greater Toronto Area.
- Proven experience working directly with homeowners and independently guiding clients from the initial consultation through design development, pricing, negotiation, and final contract signing.
- Demonstrated track record of independently leading and completing residential design projects, including home additions, custom homes, and major renovations.
- Candidates should have independently completed approximately 8 or more residential design projects per year in recent years.
- A professional portfolio is required and must include projects independently led and completed by the applicant. Projects in which the applicant only provided supporting design assistance will not be considered as independently completed projects.
- Ability to independently manage company-provided leads through the full sales and design process and successfully convert qualified opportunities into signed projects.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, floor plans,

elevations, and basic structural drawings. Basic knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, zoning requirements, and the building permit process is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and at least one skilled 3D rendering program. Must be able to prepare clear, professional, and sales-oriented design presentations.
- Robust budget awareness, with the ability to balance design quality, material selections, and construction costs within the client’s budget.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and able to manage multiple clients and design projects while meeting deadlines.
- Fluent English communication is required. Mandarin or Cantonese is considered an asset.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel to client homes and project sites.

Compensation and Benefits

- Competitive base salary based on experience and ability
- Additional sales commission for each successfully signed project
- A steady supply of qualified leads provided by the company
- Long-term career stability and clear advancement opportunities

Application Requirements

Please submit the following with your application:

- Resume
- Design portfolio
- At least 3 project examples independently led and completed by the applicant
- For each project, please include the project type, size, budget range, your responsibilities, and the final project outcome
- The number of projects completed annually in previous roles
- Relevant sales and contract-closing experience

We are not looking for a designer who only produces drawings. We are looking for a design and sales professional who can truly understand client needs, manage project budgets, deliver professional design solutions, and independently close residential renovation projects.
