About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate overnight caregiver for an 85-year-old woman living independently in Stittsville. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and has chosen comfort care over treatment. While she has long-standing mobility challenges, she remains in her own apartment with support from government PSWs during morning and evening hours, plus nursing care during the day. The family is looking for reliable overnight presence to provide peace of mind during the most vulnerable hours.

Responsibilities:

- Provide overnight companionship and supervision from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, seven days per week
- Monitor client throughout the night and respond to calls for assistance
- Help client to the restroom as needed during overnight hours
- Provide water and light refreshments upon request
- Assist with medication reminders following established schedule (medications are pre-organized in daily pill organizers)
- Manage any nighttime accidents or personal care needs that arise
- Keep client comfortable and calm during periods of nighttime anxiety
- Maintain communication with family and care team about overnight observations
- Light companionship including watching television together in the evening

What We're Looking For:

- Female caregiver preferred
- Experience with palliative or end-of-life care strongly preferred
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and remaining alert throughout
- Patient, calm demeanor especially during moments of client distress or confusion
- Reliable and punctual for every scheduled shift
- Able to work independently while coordinating with existing care team




- Comfortable with medication reminders and basic personal care
- Understanding of the emotional needs of clients facing serious illness

Schedule:

Seven nights per week, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The apartment has a reclining sofa available for the caregiver's comfort during quieter periods, though the caregiver must remain alert and responsive throughout the shift. Government PSWs arrive between 8:00-9:00 AM to provide morning care, ensuring smooth handoff.

Additional Considerations

Client has limited appetite and may need gentle encouragement. Recliner available for caregiver rest during overnight shift. Building has no nursing care on-site but client receives government PSW services morning and evening plus nursing during day.
