Overview

Avondale Food Stores is seeking a reliable, motivated, and customer-focused Store Clerk to join our team.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a quick-paced retail environment. This position involves providing excellent customer service, processing transactions, maintaining store cleanliness, and assisting with daily store operations.

No previous convenience store experience is required. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
- Accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Operate the OLG lottery terminal, including processing ticket purchases, validating tickets, and handling eligible prize redemptions in accordance with OLG policies.
- Stock shelves, rotate merchandise, and maintain product displays.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
- Monitor inventory and assist with replenishing products.
- Follow store procedures for cash handling, age-restricted products, and loss prevention.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Multitask and prioritize responsibilities during busy periods.
- Complete additional duties as assigned to support daily store operations.





Qualifications and Requirements

- Must be at least 18 years of age to legally sell and handle alcohol in Ontario.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail when handling transactions.
- Ability to learn and operate POS systems and lottery terminals.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform general retail duties.
- Willingness to follow company policies and applicable regulations.
- Previous retail or cashier experience is an asset but not required.
