Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Company Name: Iris Dynamics Ltd.
Location: 3948 Quadra St, Victoria BC, V8X1J6.
About Iris Dynamics:
Iris Dynamics is the industry leader in force-controlled magnetic linear motors, with applications across industrial automation, robotics, aerospace, defence, test and measurement, packaging systems, and more. We design and build our motors in-house in Victoria, and we run our production floor on Lean principles: flow, pull, and standard work.
The Job:
We are seeking a full-time Manufacturing Technician who will provide support in the production of proprietary state-of-the-art electromagnetic technologies. We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-driven builder who takes pride in doing precise work right the first time. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor and working on our production team, you’ll machine, assemble, test, document, package, and ship our magnetic linear motors and VR motion platforms to customers around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Fabrication
- Complete work orders across a variety of stations, including part fabrication and electromechanical assembly.
- Solder, crimp, and cut metal components, and assemble small, precise parts.
- Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and repair to standard work instructions.
- Handle and use chemicals and hazardous substances (epoxies, cleaners, lubricants) safely.
Testing & Quality
- Take and record measurements with calipers, multimeters, torque wrenches, and other tools.
- Carry out QA/QC and test procedures, and document results accurately.
- Follow our ISO standard processes and help keep them current.
- Spot and fix small problems before they become big ones, and flag issues to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Packaging & Shop Upkeep
- Package and prepare finished products for shipment to customers.
- Help maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Keep workstations and the shop clean, organized, and safe,
to 5S standards.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar hands-on role.
- Very strong attention to detail, and comfortable with repetitive, precise work.
- Strong mechanical intuition and valuable manual dexterity for safely using tools and machinery.
- Able to follow instructions closely, stay focused, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, professional attitude and good communication skills.
- Computer literate (Windows, Word, Excel, Google Workspace).
- Able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb), and comfortable with long periods of sitting, standing, and bending.
- Lives in the Greater Victoria area and can commute to our office.
- Comfortable working in a scale-up environment: you handle shifting priorities and help build practical processes where none exist yet.
Assets:
- Machine shop experience
- Soldering experience and skill with small power tools.
- Experience building or maintaining mechanical or electromechanical devices.
Work Hours
Full-time, in-person position, Monday to Friday. Because this role works on the production floor, start times are flexible between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
Compensation & Benefits

- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Casual dress code (within safety requirements).
- Company-provided snacks and drinks, and company events.
