Vanderschaaf Countertops is a locally owned shop that has specialized in the fabrication of custom solid surface countertops (e.g., Corian® and similar materials) for over 20 years. Our work includes residential and commercial projects, with a focus on quality craftsmanship, accuracy, and teamwork.

Position Summary

The Solid Surface Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing solid surface products from shop drawings and templates. This role involves hands-on work using woodworking and fabrication equipment and requires attention to detail, safe work practices, and pride in producing high-quality finished products.

Key Responsibilities

- Fabricate solid surface countertops and components from templates and drawings
- Cut, seam, shape, and finish solid surface materials
- Perform edge build-ups, sanding, polishing, and final finishing
- Operate shop equipment such as table saws, routers, CNC (if applicable), sanders, and other hand/power tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all shop safety policies and procedures (PPE, dust control, equipment safety)
- Assist with material handling and shop organization
- Communicate with shop leads and supervisors regarding job status or issues
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and report any issues

Qualifications & Experience





- Previous experience fabricating solid surface materials (preferred but not required)
- Experience in cabinetry, woodworking, or countertop fabrication considered an asset
- Ability to read shop drawings and templates
- Comfortable using hand tools and stationary shop equipment
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically capable of lifting and handling materials (with assistance as required)

Working Conditions

- Shop environment with noise, dust, and standing for extended periods
- Use of PPE required (hearing protection, respirator, safety glasses, etc.)
- Monday–Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm (overtime may be required occasionally)

Compensation

- Hourly wage based on skill and experience
- Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay in accordance with Ontario ESA
- Opportunities for skill development and long-term employment

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $17.60-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
