Job Summary

- The Apprentice Welder/Fabricator supports experienced team members in building, repairing, and assembling metal components and structures in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- This hands-on role offers practical training in welding, metalworking, equipment operation, and safe work practices. Apprentices work from blueprints and schematics while developing the skills needed to complete fabrication tasks accurately and efficiently.

Duties

- Assist with measuring, cutting, fitting, welding, and assembling metal parts for fabrication projects.
- Learn and perform MIG welding and, as training allows, TIG welding under appropriate supervision.
- Use plasma cutting equipment, a press brake machine, and other shop equipment as directed.
- Support machining and assembly tasks, including checking dimensions with calipers and other measuring tools.
- Read and follow blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and layout marks.
- Select and safely use hand tools and power tools for fabrication and installation work.
- Assist with material handling, rigging, and moving components using equipment such as a crane or forklift when trained and authorized.
- Help fabricate and install ductwork and other components used in manufacturing or construction projects.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Follow shop safety procedures, wear required protective equipment, and report hazards or equipment concerns.




- Perform basic measurements and calculations to support accurate cutting, fitting, and assembly.

Requirements

- Interest in developing a career in welding, fabrication, or manufacturing; prior welding experience is helpful but not required.
- Basic math skills and the ability to measure accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge and comfort learning to work with tools, materials, and shop equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and interpret basic blueprints or schematics; willingness to build blueprint-reading skills.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools is preferred.
- Exposure to MIG welding, TIG welding, machining, plasma cutting, or a press brake machine is an advantage.
- Rigging, crane, or forklift experience is helpful; operation of powered equipment requires appropriate training and authorization.
- Ductwork, assembly, or construction experience is a plus.
- Dependability, attention to detail, a safety-focused approach, and willingness to learn from experienced fabricators.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks of shop work, including standing, bending, and handling materials, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.
