Overview:

Cedarhurst is a charitable retirement home in Toronto, and many of our residents are older adults living with dementia. We are looking for a caring, reliable Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and support to our residents.

At Cedarhurst, we are creating a new culture for people living with dementia. The successful candidate will build trusting relationships with residents, their families and Home staff, and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

· Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility support,

· Administer medications according to Cedarhurst's medication procedures,

· Assist residents at mealtimes,

· Document care accurately and on time,

· Report changes in a resident's condition to the nursing team,

· Follow ORCA and RHRA standards and infection prevention and control practices,

· Protect the health and safety of residents, co-workers and self by adopting safe work practices,

· Perform other duties as assigned.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a part time position of four shifts per pay period, approximately 30 hours every two weeks. Shifts include evenings, weekends and holidays.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The following must be completed before the start date:

· Ontario Personal Support Worker Certificate





· Proof of vaccination

· Food Handler's Certificate

· Vulnerable Sector Check

· Current CPR and First Aid Certification

· MediSystem UCP Medication Administration training (access provided after hire)

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ontario Personal Support Worker Certificate,

· Experience working with older adults; experience with dementia care is an asset,

· Caring, respectful and reliable, with strong customer service and communication skills,

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team,

· Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
