Overview

A privately held Canadian company is setting up a one-aircraft corporate flight department with a Pilatus PC-12, based at Waterloo (CYKF). The aircraft is privately operated (not for hire) for the owner’s and executives’ business travel. There is no rotation and no crew base away from home.

We are hiring one experienced captain to run the whole operation. You will fly the aircraft single-pilot, manage its maintenance and records, and run the flight department day to day. You will report to the President and work closely with the Executive Assistant on scheduling.

Schedule and quality of life

- Low Annual Utilization: Projected at 130 to 170 flight hours per year.
- Predictable Lifestyle: Predominantly same-day return trips.
- Minimal Overnights: Averages 1 trip per month (1–3 days duration); rarely exceeds 2 trips in a peak month. Full per diem and premium accommodation provided.
- Non-Flying Duty: Flexible in office maintenance coordination at CYKF or remote administration during normal business hours.
- Dress: Executive smart casual (no formal pilot uniform required).

Key Responsibilities

1. Flight Operations & Command

- Act as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for all domestic, transborder, and international flights, retaining absolute command authority regarding go/no-go, delay, and diversion decisions.
- Execute end-to-end flight planning: weather analysis, aircraft performance, weight and balance calculations, NOTAM reviews, oceanic/customs routing, and fuel strategy.
- Administer cross-border customs requirements (eAPIS, CBSA notifications, U.S. CBP coordination, CANPASS, and international handling).
- Deliver discreet, high-touch executive service: cabin prep, passenger briefings, luggage loading,

and high-standard catering coordination.

2. Aircraft Care & Technical Oversight

- Serve as the owner’s primary liaison to the designated Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) and hangar facility at CYKF.
- Monitor tracking software (e.g., CAMP), maintenance intervals, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and engine condition trend monitoring (ECTM / Pratt & Whitney ESP).
- Perform pilot-authorized pre-flight servicing, fluid top-offs, interior/exterior detailing standards, and snag tracking; coordinate all major maintenance with licensed AMEs.
- Manage logbooks, journey logs, and maintenance invoices, approving operating expenses within authorized limits.

3. Department Management & Compliance

- Hold the functional titles of Operations Manager, Chief Pilot, and Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM) under Transport Canada CAR 604.
- Implement and update the Company Operations Manual (COM), Safety Management System (SMS), and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Ensure strict adherence to aircraft insurance underwriting conditions and pilot qualification warranties.
- Track the flight department operating budget, reconcile vendor accounts (fuel, FBO, nav data, subscriptions), and provide concise monthly status reports to the executive team.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:

- Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL-A)

with current Instrument Rating (Group 1 or Group 3), or valid ICAO license convertible before start date.
- Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical.
- 2,500 hours Total Time (TT).
- 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- 500 hours Turbine time (multi-engine or single-engine turboprop; single-pilot PIC preferred).
- Demonstrated instrument proficiency with an accident-, incident-, and violation-free safety record.
- Insurability under the underwriter’s named-pilot terms for single-pilot PC-12 operations.
- Valid passport with unrestricted entry into the United States and the Caribbean; legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Residence within 60 minutes driving distance of CYKF (or commitment to relocate prior to operations).

Preferred Assets:

- Pilatus PC-12 type experience (PC-12 NG or NGX command time is a significant asset). Candidates meeting all other requirements without type time will receive full, company-paid initial simulator training at FlightSafety or SIMCOM.
- Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL-A).
- Prior CAR 604, corporate flight department, or chief pilot/PRM experience.
- Practical familiarity with aircraft maintenance tracking (CAMP), budgeting, and vendor contract negotiations.

Compensation & Benefits

- Base Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 CAD base, commensurate with experience and PC-12 type experience.
- Training & Currency: 100% company-paid annual simulator recurrent training, travel expenses, medical exam reimbursements, licensing fees, and NEXUS renewal.
