Job Overview:

Our client requires the services of an experienced C, PowerBuilder, and Sybase application systems analyst, preferably with experience in oil and gas regulation. The systems analyst will be assigned requirements gathering and programming duties for application projects and enhancement tasks. The successful candidate will work closely with application development and maintenance teams, as well as directly with subject matter experts in business areas for application testing and remediation to ensure code functions according to specifications. This role will focus on implementation and maintenance projects for application programs.

Duties:

- Deliver applications programming and analysis tasks as part of a system development process as well as provide application support, maintenance, and enhancements. A System Analyst applies a broad knowledge of various technical areas to foresee and rectify certain problem areas within technology or with a mix of technologies, with the focus to ensure a specific business or functional use case is solved through technology.
- Liaise with business units and program areas to ensure solutions meet current and strategic organizational needs.
- Align the development team to follow Application Architecture.
- Write code for complex functional and technical designs with minimal defects.
- Define non-functional requirements including performance, availability, portability, and recoverability.
- Assess technical impacts upfront and recommend optimized application design approaches to ease development.
- Produce technical design, database structure, and application architecture for new moderately to highly complex applications.
- Seek the best technical design solution that respects budget and timeline while advocating the re-use of existing components and frameworks.
- Innovate by providing efficient ways to design applications.
- Review technical designs from other developers and recommend optimizations when necessary.
- Evaluate the quality of the product being delivered and take action to improve outcomes.
- Assist and execute performance or penetration tests and troubleshoot issues at the system level.
- Isolate root causes of issues and provide solution options and recommendations.
- Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.




- Contribute to the creation of Application Lifecycle Planning.
- Identify and coordinate release schedules.
- Identify service requests and priorities with stakeholders.
- Ensure planned releases remain on schedule.

Deliverable Details:

- Write application code using C, PowerBuilder, InfoMaker, and Sybase SQL for the Solaris 11 platform with the ability to create both desktop and web-based interfaces.
- Coordinate with internal clients, analysts, and interfaced systems team members during testing, providing systems support and operational assistance.
- Design and implement SQL databases.
- Liaise with business users to collect and analyze business and user requirements.
- Document business processes and applications.
- Produce systems design manuals.
- Produce technical and reference manuals.
- Conduct unit testing, system testing, and integration testing.
- Ensure all application changes are developed, tested, and implemented in a well-controlled manner using software release strategy.

Requirements:

- Must meet or exceed educational and experience criteria: University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or related discipline with 4+ years related experience; 2-year diploma with 6+ years related experience; 1-year certificate with 7+ years related experience; or active professional certification in a related discipline with 7+ years related experience.
- 5+ years of experience with software development processes and all associated best practices, methods, standards, tools, and policies.
- 5+ years of experience working as an Application Developer in a large enterprise IT environment utilizing Sybase, C, and Solaris 11 or RedHat.
- 5+ years of experience with C on the Solaris or RedHat platform.
- 5+ years of experience with Sybase, embedded SQL code, stored procedures, data modeling, and reporting services.
- 5+ years of experience working with end-users to confirm requirements, support testing, and maintain documentation.

Nice to Have:





- 3+ years of experience in the analysis, development, and integration of complex IT systems with a specific focus on managing multiple data sources, web services, and legacy IT solutions.
- 3+ years of experience with unit testing and test-driven development tools.
- 3+ years of experience using C# and Visual Studio.
- 3+ years of experience developing and using InfoMaker and PowerBuilder.
- 3+ years of experience with enterprise-level job automation software and tools such as AutoSys.
- 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining utilities using KornShell and Perl scripts.
