Commercial Construction | Lower Mainland, BC
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000+ Base (Flexible Based on Experience) + Semi-Annual Performance Bonuses + Health Spending Account + Vehicle/Mileage Coverage

The Opportunity
Our client, a well-established distributor of specialty architectural and acoustical building products, is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Sales Manager to help expand its market presence across the Lower Mainland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven sales professional who understands the commercial construction industry and enjoys developing relationships with contractors, builders, architects, and designers.

The successful candidate will take ownership of new business development, manage and grow existing customer relationships, and drive architectural specification opportunities for the company's specialty product lines.
Working directly with ownership, this individual will have the autonomy to develop their territory, pursue new projects, and play an important role in the company's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Territory Sales

- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the Lower Mainland commercial construction market.
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, estimators, builders, and key decision-makers.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts while actively prospecting for new business.
- Follow up on quotations, project opportunities, and customer inquiries to convert leads into sales.
- Conduct regular customer meetings, job site visits, and product presentations.

Architectural & Design Specification Sales

- Build relationships with architects, interior designers, and specification professionals to promote architectural and acoustical building products.
- Conduct lunch-and-learns, product demonstrations, and presentations to architectural and design firms.

- Work with project stakeholders to secure product specifications on upcoming commercial construction projects.
- Identify projects in the design and tendering stages and develop strategies to capture opportunities.
- Collaborate with contractors and design professionals to support product selection and project requirements.

Sales Strategy & Account Management

- Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue and market share.
- Manage the sales pipeline, track opportunities, and maintain consistent follow-up with prospective customers.
- Coordinate with internal purchasing, operations, and logistics teams to ensure excellent customer service.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming construction projects.
- Take ownership of sales performance and contribute to the company's overall growth objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

- Proven sales experience within building materials, architectural products, construction supply, or a related industry.
- Experience selling to commercial contractors, builders, architects, or interior designers.
- Understanding of the architectural specification process and commercial construction project lifecycle is a robust asset.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop new accounts, follow up on opportunities, and convert relationships into revenue.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently manage a territory, prioritize opportunities, and maintain an active sales pipeline.

Personality & Culture Fit

- A natural relationship builder who can comfortably connect with both tradespeople and design professionals.
- Proactive, ambitious, and motivated to develop new business rather than simply maintain existing accounts.
- Down-to-earth, approachable, and comfortable in a hands-on construction industry environment.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, accountability, and a team-first mentality.
- Self-motivated with a genuine interest in contributing to the long-term success of the business.

Territory & Work Structure

- Location: Lower Mainland, BC
- Market: Commercial construction and architectural building products
- Sales Channels: Contractors, builders, architects, and interior designers
- Work Structure: Approximately 50% outside sales and 50% office-based initially, with increasing field autonomy as the territory develops.
- Flexibility: Potential for a more flexible or hybrid arrangement once established in the role.

Perks & Benefits

- Health Spending Account: Employer-funded health allowance.
- Vehicle Support: Mileage reimbursement or access to a company vehicle, depending on travel requirements.
- Industry Exposure: Opportunities to attend trade shows, industry events, and networking functions.
- Growth opportunities: Opportunity to take ownership of a growing sales function and develop into a more senior leadership position.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional looking to make a meaningful impact within an established, entrepreneurial business.

Unlike highly structured corporate sales environments, this role offers direct access to ownership, flexibility in how you develop your territory, and the ability to influence the company's sales growth.

For someone who enjoys both hunting new business and developing long-term relationships, this position offers a compelling combination of autonomy, earning potential, and professional growth.
