Job Description: Senior Product Owner Data Expert

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Work Model: Hybrid 2 days onsite per week
Preferred Industry Experience: Airline / Aviation
Language Preference: French-speaking candidates preferred

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner Data Expert to lead data-driven product initiatives, define product strategy, and translate business needs into actionable data requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data products, product ownership, stakeholder management, and data strategy, with the ability to bridge the gap between business teams and technical delivery teams.

Candidates with prior experience at airline and aviation industry are strongly preferred. French-speaking candidates will also be given preference.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products and data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, data analysts, data architects, and technical teams to identify and prioritize business requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, product requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic objectives.




- Prioritize product features, enhancements, and data initiatives based on business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
- Drive Agile delivery activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and stakeholder demonstrations.
- Ensure data products meet requirements for data quality, accuracy, availability, governance, and usability.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies, manage risks, and ensure timely product delivery.
- Track product performance using relevant KPIs, metrics, and business outcomes.
- Communicate product progress, priorities, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Product Owner, Data Product Owner, or in a similar product leadership role.
- Strong understanding of data platforms, data products, data pipelines, data management, and analytics concepts.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong expertise in product backlog management, roadmap development, prioritization, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience working with data engineering,



business intelligence, analytics, and architecture teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive alignment across business and technical teams.
- Ability to work onsite in Montreal, Quebec, two days per week.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working at Air Canada is highly preferred.
- Experience in the airline, aviation, travel, or transportation industry.
- French-speaking proficiency is preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with French-speaking stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms, cloud data ecosystems, BI tools, and data governance initiatives.
- Relevant Agile or Product Owner certifications are an asset.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior-level product professional with deep knowledge of data products and a proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions. Candidates with previous Air Canada experience and French-language proficiency will be prioritized, particularly those who can work effectively with business and technical stakeholders in a hybrid Montreal-based environment.

Key Hiring Priorities:

1. Solid Senior Product Owner experience with a data focus.
2. Previous Air Canada experience preferred.
3. French-speaking ability preferred.
4. Availability to work onsite in Montreal two days per week.
