This role owns Power BI administration for a major energy infrastructure organization, covering gateway connections, the governance and permissioning model behind those connections, and capacity management including an active migration from legacy capacities to Fabric capacities. Right now every gateway connection is created manually with no self-service model and no single owner of the function; closing that gap is the core purpose of this position. Roughly 60% of the role is hands-on technical administration, and the remaining 40% is leading an established Power Platform Center of Excellence community program, hosting monthly sessions for approximately 300 citizen developers and translating Microsoft product updates into applied, environment specific guidance.

The ideal candidate brings 5 or more years of true Power BI administration experience (gateway management, connection governance, capacity management) at enterprise scale, and can speak concretely to the organizational context and their specific role in a prior implementation. Strong communication and training ability matter here as much as technical depth, because this person presents to a large, mixed-skill audience every month. Broader Power Platform administration across Power Automate, Power Apps, and AI Builder is a genuine plus but is trainable; a candidate who is solid on Power BI and genuinely eager to grow into the wider platform is a strong fit. Key Responsibilities
1. Own and govern all Power BI gateway connections and the underlying permissioning and connection governance model
2. Manage Power BI capacity environments, leading the active migration from legacy capacities to Microsoft Fabric capacities

Evaluate and implement self-service and automation opportunities to replace the current fully manual connection process
4. Administer Power Automate, Power Apps, and AI Builder environments, incorporating new Microsoft feature releases into the governance framework as they are released
5. Administer the Copilot platform at an environment level, applying workplace strategy and access management controls
6. Host and facilitate the monthly Microsoft Champions community meeting for approximately 300 citizen developers, ranging from full-time builders to side-of-desk users
7. Curate member showcases and translate Microsoft product updates into guidance specific to the organization's environment, operating with significant autonomy to research, resolve, and then teach
8. Explore AWS as a growth area during lower-activity periods (nice to have, not a day-one expectation)

Required Skills & Experience
•5 or more years of Power BI administration experience specifically in gateway management, connection governance, and/or capacity management; report or dashboard-building experience alone does not satisfy this requirement
•Demonstrated enterprise-scale Power BI experience with the ability to speak to organizational context, approximate user count, and personal role in the implementation
•Robust communication and presentation skills, including comfort presenting to large, mixed skill audiences on a recurring basis
•Proven ability to self-direct learning and resolve technical challenges independently, without senior mentorship in the immediate discipline
•Eligible to work in Canada without restriction

Preferred Skills
•Hands-on experience administering Power Automate, Power Apps, or AI Builder
•Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot platform administration at an setting level
•University degree in a relevant discipline (demonstrated experience outweighs formal education for this role)
•Genuine interest in building a long-term career in Power Platform and citizen development
•Curiosity or aptitude in AWS as a growth area
