Staff Accountant
Location: York Region, Greater Toronto Area

About the Firm
Our client is a small, energetic public accounting firm providing accounting, tax, assurance, and related services to corporations and individuals across a diverse mix of industries. The firm places high value on client and internal relationships and offers a diverse, fun, and challenging workplace. It is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join its growing Private Enterprise department.

The Role
The Staff Accountant will work closely with the firm’s other accountants and staff and report directly to the partners.

Responsibilities

- Plan and prepare client year-end engagements (primarily compilations and reviews) that comply with quality and other relevant standards
- Prepare simple and complex personal tax returns
- Prepare client information slips based on the information provided
- Complete other accounting-related tasks as required, such as analysis and research

Qualifications

- 5 or more years of experience preparing personal tax and,



especially, corporate Canadian tax returns (U.S. tax knowledge is a plus)
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload and multiple deadlines
- Familiarity with QuickBooks (required)
- Knowledge of CaseWare, TaxPrep, and CCH iFirm / IntelliConnect is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office (required)

Compensation: $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience and education.

Candidates must have Canadian experience, be eligible to work in Canada, and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office.
