Primary Tasks

- Ensure orders are accurately filled and loaded to daily requirements
- Highlight specialty items
- Hardware items must be picked/checked up and ready to ship 2 hours in advance
- Quality checks all loads, identify short shipments (back orders) and correct or advise as needed
- Photograph all loads leaving yard, including third party carriers
- Ensure all third-party carriers are following protocols while on site
- Ensure accurate payroll/timekeeping for staff within UKG

Secondary Tasks

- Ensure the yard and warehouse are kept clean, organized and free of safety hazards
- When necessary, assist or substitute for all yard and warehouse staff
- Liaise with Operations Manager ensuring yard equipment maintenance is always up to date
- Responsible for maintaining security of yard
- Assigning cycle counts to yard staff as required
- Ensure cycle counts are accurate by performing audits
- Responsible for condition of inventory and to report when levels are critical
- Process credit returns within 24 hours of receiving

- Arrange your staff’s work schedules set by shipping/receiving schedule
- Hire, train, develop, promote and discipline all staff reporting to you
- Maintain a positive relationship with all staff using good communication skills
- Instill solid Customer Service Policies with your staff
- Follow and have your staff follow company policies
- Provide timely written probationary reviews, as well as periodic verbal performance evaluations throughout the year
- Annual performance evaluations to be done with Operations Manager
- Ensure staff use time management skills
- Encourage and be open to ideas from your staff and peers
- Train staff on loss prevention and ensure security measures are in place and abided by
- Monitor and control staffing levels within your department
