An Order Picker in a meat company is responsible for accurately selecting, packing, and preparing meat products for shipment while maintaining food safety and warehouse standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately using pick lists or RF scanners
- Handle and package meat products according to company and food safety standards
- Load, unload, and move products within refrigerated or freezer environments
- Verify product quantities, labels, and order accuracy before shipment
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the warehouse and work areas
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment when required
- Stack and organize products safely on pallets
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities
- Monitor product quality and report damaged or expired items
- Maintain inventory accuracy and complete required documentation
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations, including PPE requirements
- Work efficiently to meet daily production and shipping targets
- Support team members with general warehouse duties as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous warehouse or order picking experience preferred
- Ability to work in cold storage or refrigerated environments
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy products repeatedly
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order preparation
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced workplace
- Basic communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food processing or meat distribution industry
- Forklift certification or pallet jack experience
- Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse management systems
Pay: $18.00 per hour
