Are you Ready to Build the Future of AI Infrastructure? If you're energized by massive scale, deep technical complexity, and the opportunity to shape the next era of compute, this is your moment. Join a team where groundbreaking work meets competitive compensation, meaningful impact, and a chance to accelerate your career at the forefront of AI innovation. We want to meet you. Why IREN? IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN's platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way: responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in. This position is based on-site in Prince George, BC, supporting the construction expansion at our operating data center site. The site runs day and night shifts; this role is day-shift based with a rotational schedule to be confirmed with the successful candidate. The Role The General Superintendent runs field execution for the Prince George expansion at our operating data center. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you own the day-to-day delivery of the construction scope across disciplines: mechanical and cooling systems, electrical and critical power, civil and structural work, and the network infrastructure that ties it together. You direct the discipline General Foremen on day and night shifts, sequence the work fronts so trades are not stacked and live systems are never put at risk, hold contractors to schedule, quality and safety, and coordinate every tie-in, isolation and energization with site operations. Where a single-discipline Superintendent owns one scope, you own the whole site's field plan and the hand-offs between scopes. This is a brownfield, mission-critical build: the facility is carrying live load while you build beside it.
• Field Execution: Own the daily and three-week look-ahead field plan across mechanical, electrical, civil and network scopes; set priorities, sequence work fronts, and resolve conflicts between trades and with site operations.
• Leadership of General Foremen:
Direct and develop the discipline General Foremen on both shifts; set expectations for daily walkdowns, contractor oversight, reporting and quality enforcement, and step in where a scope needs senior field authority.
• Live-Site Coordination: Plan and authorize every tie-in, shutdown, isolation and energization with site operations, the LOTO Coordinator and the QA/QC and Turnover Lead so construction never compromises operating infrastructure.
• Contractor Management: Hold mechanical, electrical, civil and network contractors to schedule, quality and safety; run the plan-of-day and weekly coordination meetings; review work packages, method statements, lift plans and energization plans for constructability.
• Quality & Turnover: Enforce the Quality Management Plan and discipline ITPs through the General Foremen; drive non-conformance closure; deliver systems to commissioning and Operations complete, inspected and documented.
• Schedule & Cost: Track progress against the baseline, report earned value and manpower weekly, forecast completion by system, and manage field changes and extras with the Construction Manager and project controls.
• Safety Leadership: Own the site safety record for construction: model IREN's safety culture and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation requirements, lead incident response and investigation, and stop work where conditions present an unacceptable risk.
• Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear daily and weekly updates to the Construction Manager, project leadership and site operations on progress, manpower, risks and solutions; represent construction in site coordination with operations and HSE.
• 12+ years of industrial construction experience on large-scale data center, power generation, substation, oil and gas, mining or heavy industrial projects, including 5+ years as a Superintendent or General Superintendent with authority over multiple disciplines.
• Proven track record directing General Foremen and multiple contractors across mechanical, electrical and civil scopes on a single site, through to energization, commissioning and turnover.
• Live-site (brownfield)
experience:
planning and executing tie-ins, isolations and energizations beside operating infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of critical power, cooling and piping systems, civil and structural work and structured cabling, with the ability to read single-lines, P&IDs;, structural drawings and specifications across disciplines.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CSA C22.1, CSA Z462, ASME B31, CSA A23, BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation) as they apply to field execution.
• Red Seal trade certification (Millwright, Electrician, Pipefitter or related) or equivalent industrial field leadership experience; Gold Seal designation an asset.
• Solid leadership, communication and organizational skills; calm, decisive and firm with contractor supervision.
• Ability to work on-site in Prince George, BC on a rotational schedule, including coordination with night shift. Preferred Experience
• Prior experience on hyperscale or HPC/GPU data center construction, including liquid-cooled infrastructure.
• Experience with structured completions platforms and tagged-system turnover.
• Experience managing self-perform crews alongside contractors.
• PMP certification or Gold Seal designation an asset.
• Work with state-of-the-art AI hardware and some of the most advanced compute systems in the world
