Azure Data Architect

Location: Toronto, ON – Hybrid (2 days onsite/week)

Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to design and lead secure, scalable enterprise data solutions on Azure. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, ADLS Gen2, Kafka, and Terraform, with experience architecting modern data platforms and guiding engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design scalable Azure Databricks Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake and modern data layers.
- Architect ADLS Gen2 storage structures, security, access controls, and lifecycle management.
- Design Kafka-based real-time streaming solutions and integrate Kafka with Databricks and ADLS.
- Develop and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform/IaC and reusable modules.
- Define standards for data security, governance, quality, observability, and platform reliability.




- Review technical designs and provide architectural guidance to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with data engineering, cloud, security, and business teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.

Required Skills:

- 8+ years of experience in data architecture / data engineering, with strong Azure experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and ADLS Gen2.
- Proven experience designing Kafka streaming architectures and real-time data pipelines.
- Strong Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
- Experience with Azure security, data governance, data quality, and enterprise architecture.
- Ability to lead technical design discussions and guide implementation teams.
- Financial services / banking experience is preferred.
