Perform phlebotomy and patient testing as a Laboratory Assistant with Dynacare in Peterborough, Ontario. Work full-time weekday day shifts at 26 Hospital Drive.
This three-month contract guarantees 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will support patient care through specimen collection, testing, accurate information handling, and compassionate customer service. The role requires a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized phlebotomy training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain quality blood samples through skilled venipuncture techniques
- Conduct patient tests and perform ECGs and Holter hookups
- Collect paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol specimens
- Enter patient and test information for Ministry requisitions
- Prepare specimens and documentation according to established protocols
Requirements:
- Completed secondary school and laboratory assistant training
- Demonstrated phlebotomy skill with anxious patients
- Customer-focused approach and genuine care for patient health
- Robust attention to detail and deadline-oriented self-management
- English proficiency; MLPAO or CSMLS certification recommended
