The primary role of the Shipping Assistant is to receive, inspect, store FGS materials and provide backup support for shipping operations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- File WII materials in designated locations
- Organize and label inventory storage areas.
- Receive, inspect and store FGS Materials
- Locate, pack and ship materials according to work orders.
- Generate required documentation and reports.
- Provide backup support for shipping operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized stock room.
- Perform annual inventory counts and audits.
- Follows safety procedures as set out in the Health and Safety policy and internal trainings.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Shipping/logistics experience is an asset
- Basic computer skills (data entry, quality systems) .
- Ability to make decisions using positive judgment while lacking complete information.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform under time pressures.
- Controlled Goods Program (CGP) certification.
- Reliable performance and quality work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to follow a complex series of instructions.
- Ability to communicate within a team environment.
Working Conditions
- Frequent use of a microscope and measurement systems.
- Ability to handle boxes up to 20kg.
- Frequent exposure to controlled substances.
- Execution of repetitive tasks, often involving small parts.
Type of Supervision Received
Task assignment is through the Supplier Quality Engineer. Yearly performance reviews and setting of annual performance goals are together with the Supplier Quality Engineer and the Manager of Corporate Services.
