Operate street sweepers and road maintenance equipment for the Region of Waterloo in a temporary full-time Heidelberg assignment. Support protected roads year-round.

This Roads Maintainer position performs general maintenance on Regional roads and roadsides. Duties include sweeping, winter snow and ice control, summer maintenance, equipment checks, and traffic control. The work requires operating trucks, loaders, sweepers, and attachments. You will document road conditions, complete maintenance checklists, and communicate with supervisors, staff, and the public. The temporary contract lasts five months, with a Monday-to-Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate street sweepers across roadsides, curbs, gutters, and catch basins
- Perform winter plowing, salting, sanding, and snow removal activities
- Complete equipment inspections, cleaning,



minor repairs, and fluid checks
- Perform roads maintenance, drainage work, and debris removal
- Complete reports, logs, and required traffic control duties

Requirements:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of directly related equipment operation experience
- Valid Class D licence with Z air brake endorsement
- Ability to read Traffic Control Plans and complete maintenance documentation
- Ability to work safely in varied environmental conditions and hours
