Shape technical theatre and sound for Chromatic Theatre in Calgary through organized production coordination and team-oriented design support. This contract is part time and flexible.

The Technical Director and Assistant Sound Designer supports a production running April 18 through May 1, 2021. Chromatic Theatre brings diverse voices to Calgary’s independent theatre landscape. The work combines technical theatre, sound planning, meetings, rehearsals, and production coordination. Mentorship from the Sound Designer supports applicants developing sound design skills and technical director experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage scenic budgets with the Production Manager
- Attend production, design, venue, and related meetings
- Oversee technical setup and strike while preserving artistic integrity




- Coordinate transportation of materials and rentals
- Develop sound plots and support rehearsals, installation, and calibration

Requirements:

- Background in technical theatre across varied departments
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of speaker plots, signal flow, and microphones
- Working understanding of QLab 3 and digital audio workstation software encouraged
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle are an asset
