Lead identity and authentication architecture as a Staff Software Engineer at Coalition, working remotely from any location in Canada. Shape secure backend systems. Coalition’s Auth/Accounts team builds identity, authentication, authorization, and account capabilities for products and internal operations. You will provide technical leadership across a complex, multi-service domain. The work includes architecture, cross-team delivery, operational reliability, and engineering mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architecture and delivery initiatives across authentication and authorization Define API contracts, data models, migrations, and rollout strategies Translate product, security,
and business requirements into explicit designs Build scalable backend services and improve operational reliability Guide engineers and strengthen technical design skills across teams
Requirements:
Proven staff-level cross-team architecture leadership Expertise in API design, distributed systems, and data modeling Experience with security, correctness, and performance-sensitive systems Ability to write designs, align stakeholders, and mentor engineers Ability to evaluate AI tools critically for secure engineering work Apply identity architecture, distributed systems, and technical leadership to Coalition’s security-sensitive products across Canada.
