As a Registered Midwife in Inuvik, you'll provide full-scope, relationship-based care to growing families, supporting clients through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care while practicing autonomously within a team-oriented healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive prenatal, labour, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.

Serve as the primary care provider and birth attendant for maternity clients.

Assess, diagnose, order tests, prescribe medications, and manage care within the midwifery scope of practice.

Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation to support clients during pregnancy, labour, and postpartum.

Provide reproductive health services, pregnancy counselling, and family planning education.

Deliver prenatal classes, breastfeeding support, and maternal-child health education.

Promote culturally safe, relationship-based care for diverse northern communities.

Participate in quality improvement, program development, and community outreach initiatives.





Mentor students and healthcare colleagues while contributing to the growth of midwifery services in the Northwest Territories.

Key Qualifications:

A Baccalaureate degree in Midwifery (Health Sciences) or assessed through a Prior Learning and Experience Assessment (PLEA) program within a Canadian province,

A minimum of two (2) years' experience in delivering midwifery care as a primary care provider.

Additional Requirements:

A valid driver's license

Standard First Aid, CPR (level C)

Must be eligible for professional licensing in accordance with the Midwifery Profession Act and must be credentialed and eligible for privileges in accordance with the Medical and Professional Staff Bylaws
